During the process of creating this series I was thinking about two artists, Cy Twombly and Martin Ramirez. Twombly for his drawings on chalkboards, which I’ve always admired, and Ramirez for his use of repetition with shapes and lines. Ramirez was crazy – literally crazy – and his drawings are evidence of this. They remind me of someone with an obsessive compulsive disorder that has to live their lives in repetition, constantly doing the same things multiple times before moving on.

This series is a reflection on repetition. I often find myself doing the same things over and over to make sure that everything is ok. Checking the locks, once, twice three times, just in case. Even in drawing, I find myself drawing feathers over and over again.
