The future, like these drawings, is nebulous and unknown (unfinished). As a teacher and a father I often think of the world that I am helping to prepare my children and students to be a part of – a world completely unknown. Technology is changing our lives so quickly that we can barely make sense of the now, let alone the future. How do you prepare the youth for the future when you have no idea what that future will look like? Most would agree that we have some major obstacles to overcome if we are going to continue to flourish on planet earth. Sometimes even our survival may look bleak while at other times it seems possible that the human race is on to better things. The technological revolution that has been happening to our lives over the past 100 plus years is unfinished, and it is hard to tell whether it will leave us better or worse. Hopefully these drawings give a sense of the unknown as well as the tenuous beauty of the future. |
